This new topless matter is perhaps an excessively
obvious documentation of my claim that there has
been a considerable drop in the visual component of
perception since TV. It may seem paradoxical that a
highly visual culture insists on much covering of the
human body. This is partly owing to the need for
channelling physical energies to the eye. An easy
tolerance of nudity is natural to people for whom
the visual component in experience is secondary.
